I have too many hospital stories from abroad. Each and every time I was sick, I stayed at a horrible hostel. I just want to sleep, rest, no one to bother me, and to be comfortable. I don’t want to pay for an expensive hotel either though. Is it really too much to ask for just comfort while I’m sick?

Three years ago today I left for Beijing, China to start my trip. Since then, I’ve been to 18 countries and lived at least a month in 5 of them. I saved roughly $15,000 before the start of the trip and have not worked in the US since then.

The City of Lights is the home of haute couture, Michelin stars and the Mona Lisa, but it’s still a wonderful place for the budget traveler to explore.
